Different Styles of Illustrations

Depending on what the illustration is for, my style adapts.

If it is for a kids book the illustrations must be quite different than a shirt for an adult MMA club. I try to stay as flexible as possible.
For example, I have been drawing characters like this guy lately. You may have seen some of the sketches I have been doing with him. But that is not the only thing I have been working on. 🙂

I have also been working on a couple of characters for a kid’s book. These characters will need to have an element of cuteness about them. Obviously cute is quite different than what is in the above example.

One of the characters is a hummingbird. This is one of the colored sketches I did to work out some of the dimensions and color.

One of the things I worked on was whether or not I needed to show the texture of the ruby neck.

I want to make decisions on what detail will be needed and what areas will be suggested. Not to mention the overall shape of the hummingbird will come into play. Ya know it can be pretty hard to show emotion with just one eye showing. 🙂

The hummingbird will be paired with an owl and some other creatures of the woods.

There is still a lot of work to be done on this character set. I will share it with you when I am finished, so stay tuned.

Here are some more examples of some illustration.
